SANNA KETONEN-OKSI
FUTURES LITERACY · ETHICS · PLANETARY WELLBEING
My life’s mission is to help individuals, organisations and communities expand their understanding of themselves, others and the future, so that they can act in ways that support human and planetary wellbeing.
I work at the intersection of futures studies, knowledge management, ethics, sustainability and systemic transformation. Through research, public speaking, mentoring and international collaboration, I support individuals, organisations, networks and communities in navigating uncertainty while strengthening their capacity to act with wisdom, responsibility and care. Drawing on Futures Literacy, systemic thinking and feminist perspectives, I challenge default assumptions and help expand the range of imaginable futures.
Over the past two decades, I have contributed to the development of futures-oriented capabilities, innovation ecosystems and collaborative networks across universities, public organisations, cities, ministries, consulting and international networks, helping bridge research, policy and practice.
One of my most recent commitments is FLARE (Futures Literacy for Anticipatory Societies), bringing together a European community of researchers, educators, policymakers and practitioners around a shared vision of Futures Literacy as a capability for shaping more inclusive, democratic and resilient futures. Over a two-year period, I steered the initiative from concept to a successful COST Network Action, building the network, shaping its strategic vision and co-leading the final submission process. As FLARE now enters its implementation phase, I continue to lead its scientific direction, research agenda and international collaboration. helping lay the foundation for a new European platform advancing Futures Literacy through research, collaboration and societal engagement.
