BUILDING COLLECTIVE FUTURES WISDOM
This page is a home for my evolving thinking on what I increasingly describe as Collective Futures Wisdom: the capacity to bring together diverse disciplines, worldviews, belief systems and traditions, while integrating ethical judgment and moral awareness into the ways how we perceive, imagine and shape the future. Ultimately, the aim is to support the systemic transformations needed for human and planetary flourishing.
Here I share ideas, keynote talks, essays, emerging concepts, and inspirations from colleagues and collaborators that continue to shape and challenge my thinking.

- Keynote on Learning the Future: Futures Literacy for the Next Generation, held at the Interactive Policy Lab / Workshop for “Diplomatic Foresight: Anticipating Change in an Age of Uncertainties”, held by Ministry of Foresight Affairs and Foreign Trade in North Macedonia, Diplomatic Club Skopje, and University of American College Skopje, 8.5.2026.
- Keynote on Hope, Resilience, and Agency at the time of monsters, held at Laurea International week, 26.1.2026, Tikkurila (Finland).
- The article on Methods to imagine transformative futures, published in Futures in 2024, demonstrating why more understanding is needed about the means to produce change in the participants’ cognitive abilities to use the futures and that a shift of focus is needed to see futures practitioners as capability developers rather than method appliers. The paper was developed jointly with Minna Vigren (LUT University, Lappeenranta/Finland).

- Discussing the socio-technical conditions in Futures Literacy practice, a work-in-progress led by Etrit Shkreli (Sabanci University, Istanbul/Turkey); the study is based on a futures lab we collaborated on designing to see what happens when linear time, pacha time and ibn al-waqt (rumi) time are used as analytical lenses to study how their uses can (and in what conditions) help students become more open to alternative futures.
- An attempt to clarify the methodological commitments, participatory practices, and power-related approaches that could support more grounded and accountable sustainability transformations; a work-in-progress I share with Minna Vigren (LUT University, Lappeenranta/Finland), the idea of which continues our research on Methods to imagine transformative futures, and first presented at SUSTAINABILITY, TEMPORALITIES AND FUTURES, herd 9–10 June 2026 in Turku/Finland.
- Discussing Collective Futures Wisdom in the Earth Stewardship (ESA) article on Cultivating futures wisdom for collective transformation, co-authored with Etrit Shkreli (Sabanci University, Istanbul/Turkey).
